Citrine Informatics, the leading provider of AI and smart data management software for materials and chemicals development, announced the appointment of Dr. Roger Assaker, co-founder of e-Xstream engineering and former President of MSC Software, the Design & Engineering Business Unit of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, as an advisor.
Roger Assaker co-founded e-Xstream engineering in 2003, the world leader in Integrated Computational Material Engineering (ICME) and advanced (composite) material modeling. He established advanced multi-scale material and product performance modeling as an important market, where he grew e-Xstream before exiting to MSC Software in 2012 and Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (MI) in 2017. After the exit, Roger continued to lead e-Xstream and the material strategy of MSC before taking the leadership of MSC Software, the Design & Engineering BU of Hexagon MI, in June 2020.
Dr. Assaker holds a PhD and MS in Aerospace Engineering and an MBA in International Business, and he is an active angel investor, board member, and advisor of medical technology scale-ups, and is Entrepreneur In Residence at Expon Capital, a VC firm in Luxembourg.
“I spent my entire education and career in numerical simulation. Since 2003, I’ve been on a mission to demonstrate the importance of materials and advanced material modeling for product performance, while optimizing the use of materials as a scarce earth resource. For that, I established e-Xstream as a key player in this field with a focus on materials for part performance.” said Dr. Assaker. “Citrine Informatics is uniquely positioned to be the market leader in AI for materials and chemicals development upstream in the value chain. I’ve followed their impressive trajectory for the last several years, and I look forward to strategically advising the team to support the next stages of their growth and to consolidate the importance of materials for sustainable growth.”
“Dr. Assaker brings significant operational and leadership expertise in building and scaling scientific software to our advisory board. From his experience founding e-Xstream in 2003 to leading the Design and Engineering business unit with Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, I’m excited for him to join us as an advisor to help inform growth and strategy at such a critical point in Citrine’s history,” said Greg Mulholland, Citrine’s CEO.
